Hollywood business managers need to manage their clients better
Hollywood can be a very deceitful business at times. Ever since the movie business and insurance premium started, movie stars have been accusing Hollywood business managers of robbing them, or not providing them with sound financial advice. When you add this to the fact that a majority of movie stars don’t have a lot of good financial sense, this puts them in a very hard position. Should they trust these business managers? Of should they not trust them?
A business manager is supposed to manage a clients career, but from reading the article it seems like most Hollywood business managers don’t have much control over their clients careers. And some of them don’t even seem to have what it takes to tell their clients that they need to exercise good financial management if they want to stay wealthy. One of the managers said that he’s going to tell his client Shaquille O’Neal to start winding down his excessive spending habits because his career is coming to an end soon. But once a person has formed spending habits, it’s very hard for them to suddenly break them, so this manager has probably waited to long to educate Shaquille O’Neal about good spending habits.
More than likely, because Shaquille has developed excessive spending habits he’s not going to change them until he’s used up a significant portion of his retirement income, and then he’s going to be in trouble. At a minimum the point of investing for retirement is to ensure that a person has the same amount of income they had when they were working. If celebrities don’t at least have this, then the business managers aren’t doing their jobs correctly.
